This week saw the launch of the inaugural Adoption Week Scotland. Running from the 21st to the 27th of November, Adoption UK aims to educate people on the reality of adoption.
Nicky Campbell, the Scottish broadcaster who was adopted at just a few days old, was quoted in The Times and the Scotsman calling for people to “consider the joy” of adoption. He went on to say that adoption is the “greatest thing a person can do”.
Adoption UK is holding a free information event on Thursday 24th of Edinburgh at the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh. Current adoption practitioners, prospective adopters, and any anyone who wishes to find out more about adoption in Scotland is welcome to attend.
Adoption UK is the leading charity providing support, awareness and understanding for those parenting or supporting children who cannot live with their birth parents. You can find out more about Adoption Week Scotland here.
