SOLEX, the Summer and Outdoor Living Exhibition in Hall 5 at the Birmingham’s NEC, was alive with sales chatter, a buzz of excitement and a subtle charcoal aroma this week as companies from across the UK showcased their new products for summer 2018.

Arbors, BBQs, sun loungers and pergolas adorned the hall, accessorised with next summer’s must-have soft furnishings. In its 10th year, the requirement to have a completely dedicated show for outdoor living showed no signs of abating with almost one hundred exhibitors. Kettler won best stand of the show with its whopping 600m2 pitch, evoking envy for its everdure by Heston Blumenthal BBQs and extensive furniture range.

The market in outdoor living has never done better, with people in the UK spending more on their outside space than ever before. I was there with our client Zest 4 Leisure, whose double decker stand welcomed customers old and new to see their latest products including the Emily Corner Bench and Madison Children’s Picnic Table.

The staff from GTN and Horticulture Week were in attendance, and we were pleased to get Zest’s new products coverage in these key trade magazines at a competitive time.

The organisers of SOLEX and LOFA will have been very pleased with such a robust turn out from the industry’s heavyweights, both in terms of buyers and exhibitors, and I look forward to seeing what 2018’s show will bring.
